Algebra basics
Algebra is a way of writing a thought you already had — a number you do not want to name yet. Children struggle when x is an object (‘x apples’) rather than a number you could try, or when the equals sign still means ‘write the answer here’.
Why this concept matters
Every Class 9–10 paper is algebra, including the geometry. Starting algebra as a foreign language is how capable children become anxious ones.
