Why children commonly stall here
Trigonometry becomes SOH-CAH-TOA as a tattoo. Quadratics become a formula with no picture. The stall is rarely ‘this year’s chapter’. It is a chain of missing concepts, and boards punish the chain.

Trig ratios are three letters to stick on a triangle
Opposite/adjacent depends on the angle you named. Change the angle, and the same side changes job. That sentence is the whole topic.
More practice papers will fix it
If the same concept fails on paper 1 and paper 4, the missing idea is not ‘exam temperament’.
Worked examples
Three short ones. A live session has more, at the child’s pace.
x² − 5x + 6 = 0. Factor, then say what the solutions mean.
Two numbers that multiply to 6 and add to −5. Then: the x-values that make the expression zero.
In a right triangle, sin θ = opposite / hypotenuse. Point to both sides for this θ, then for the other acute angle.
The names are relative to the angle, not painted on the triangle.
